President Obama’s re-election campaign sent a fundraising email to supporters Tuesday night, seeking to capitalize on his prime-time State of the Union address.
“I’m heading to Capitol Hill soon to deliver my third State of the Union address,” said the email, delivered about an hour before Mr. Obama began to speak to the joint session of Congress. “Before I go, I want to say thanks for everything you’re doing.”

It was signed, “Barack.”
Below the president’s name was a box labeled “Donate” for supporters to click if they wished to contribute money to his campaign fund.
In the email, Mr. Obama said his speech would “set the tone for the year ahead.”
“I’m going to lay out in concrete terms the path we need to take as a country if we want an economy that works for everyone and rewards hard work and responsibility,” he said. “I’m glad to know you’ll be standing with me up there.”
