  • Getting back to Bamako

    On March 22, Swedish TV producer Felix Lamo alerted me that a U.N. Humanitarian Air Service plane was coming to pick up 10 journalists, and he suggested that I call to see if I could get out with them, since there were no other options planned. Published March 27 2013

  • Suicide bomber, two jihadists killed

    March 24: Had a difficult time getting out after the jihadist attacks in Timbuktu. I was lucky to get on a U.N. evacuation flight to Mopti. Published March 25 2013

  • Arriving in Mali and getting an assessment

    John Price is a former U.S. ambassador to Comoros, Mauritius and the Seychelles islands, and currently serves as a resident scholar at the University of Utah's Hinckley Institute of Politics. He is the author of "When the White House Calls" and regularly writes commentaries on Africa and the Arabian Peninsula. He is traveling in Mali, where he will meet with officials and residents to assess recent events there. Published March 22 2013
