DIRECTIONS: From Interstate 495, take Interstate 270 north. Take Exit 11, then merge onto Route 124/Montgomery Village Avenue. Make a right onto Route 355, then a right onto Perry Parkway and turn left into the Montgomery County Agricultural Fairgrounds. Signs will direct you to parking, which is free. A free shuttle will run continually from the Shady Grove Metro station in Rockville from 2:30 p.m. until the event ends.

TIMES: Children's programs start at 3 p.m. Fireworks occur twice, at 6 p.m. and midnight, and evening activities begin at 7 p.m.

ADMISSION: Afternoon events are free, but evening entertainment requires a $10 admission button for everyone older than 10. The button is needed for the indoor entertainment only. Buttons are available at Montgomery County libraries, recreation centers, government centers and Gaithersburg City Hall.

DIRECTIONS: Take the Rowe Boulevard exit off Route 50 and make the first right into the Navy-Marine Corps Stadium parking lot. Parking is $5. Then take the free shuttle bus to the State House, where another free shuttle will make the loop of all the performance venues. Buses begin running at 2 p.m., and service is offered until the event ends.

TIMES: Children's performances start at 3 p.m.; evening performances start at 6.

ADMISSION:Buttons are $15, $10 for children ages 4 to 12. For pre-event ticket sales, check Giant Food stores, Shades Unlimited and Lexus of Annapolis; tickets also can be purchased via the Internet (www.firstnightannapolis.org) or from the First Night office at 100 Cathedral St. Tickets can be purchased on show day at the stadium ticket booth, the visitors center kiosk at City Dock and at the U.S. post office on Church Circle.

DIRECTIONS: Take Route 50 east over the Chesapeake Bay Bridge. Pass the Easton airport and turn right onto Route 322. Make the first left onto Washington Street; proceed about 1.5 miles to town center. Free parking is available in Talbottown Shopping Center: Continue to second light, turn left onto Harrison Street; Talbottown is on left. Several other lots are located about 500 feet farther on the right and left.

TIMES: Performances at most venues begin at 7 p.m. and run until 11:45. Fireworks are scheduled for midnight.

ADMISSION: Admission is $8 for adults, $4 for students. Children under age 5 are admitted free. Tickets are available from Easton Welcome & Resource Center; in addition, the center will open at 6 p.m. on the day of the event for ticket sales. DIRECTIONS: From the District, take Route 7 west or take the Dulles Greenway to the Leesburg Bypass to Route 15 north. Follow signs to downtown Leesburg. Free parking is available on side streets and in downtown parking garages.

TIMES: The First Night Parade will begin at 5 p.m. At 5:30, a pyrotechnic/light show is scheduled at the courthouse; events will run continuously from 6 to 11:45 p.m. The Grand Illumination is at midnight.

ADMISSION: Advance admission bracelet sales will be held at the Loudoun Tourism Center, Bluemont Concert Series, Purcellville Pharmacy, Leesburg Pharmacy, Mom's Apple Pie and Adelphia Cable (Sterling). On the evening of the event, bracelets will be available at First Night admission booths on King and Market streets in downtown Leesburg. Bracelets also may be purchased at some performance sites after 6 p.m. Prices are $8 for adults, $3 for children ages 3 to 12.

Proceed to Exit 14/Rosemont Avenue; turn left onto Rosemont. Turn right onto North Bentz Street. After three lights, turn left onto West Church Street. Go through the next two lights to the parking garage. Parking for the event is free. Morningstar Design, located just outside the garage, will offer tickets the day of the event from 5 to 10 p.m.

TIMES: Events begin at 5 p.m. Fireworks are scheduled for midnight.

ADMISSION: Admission is $7 for adults and $3 for children ages 3 to12 until Dec. 26, when prices rise to $10 for adults and $5 for children. Tickets can be purchased on the telephone at 301/668-2000; buy them on line at www.digitalfrederick.com/shop/firstnight. Advance-sale locations are the Weinberg Center box office, the Frederick Tourism Council and Flights of Fancy. Performance-evening sales are scheduled for the Weinberg Center, Morningstar Design and the recreation center.
