• Bowl America Inc. operates 13 centers in Maryland and Virginia, all of which have "Cosmic Bowling." AMF operates 15 centers in Virginia and Maryland, and seven of them offer "Xtreme Bowling": Centreville; Woodbridge, Va.; Fredericksburg, Va.; Adelphi; Gaithersburg; Laurel; and Waldorf, Md.

• AMF and Bowl America offer "bumper bowling" for small children, in which rubber pads are inserted in the lanes' gutters to prevent gutter balls. Most centers have lighter balls and smaller shoes for younger bowlers, too, and just about all of them offer birthday party packages.
