Location:

Boat tours leave from the Mount Vernon wharf, which is about a 10-minute walk from the front gates of Mount Vernon.

Parking:

Spaces are plentiful and free, but later in the day, the walk from the lot may be long.

Cost:

The entrance fee to the Mount Vernon grounds is $9 for adults, $8.50 for senior citizens 62 and older, $4.50 for children 6 to 11, and free for children 5 and under.
Boat fares:
Tickets are $7 for adults, $5 for senior citizens 62 and older, $4 for children 6 to 11, and free for children 5 and under.

Schedule:

Tours leave at 11 a.m. and noon Tuesday through Sunday.

A five-hour cruise to Mount Vernon leaves from Pier 4 at Sixth and Water streets SW Tuesday through Sunday until Oct. 1. Boats leave at 9 a.m. and return at 2:30 p.m. The cost, which includes the entrance fee to Mount Vernon, is $28 for adults, $26.50 for senior citizens 62 and older, $18 for children 6 to 11, and free for children 5 and under. Boats make a round trip from the Old Town Alexandria waterfront to Mount Vernon from mid-March through Columbus Day. The cruise departs at 12:30 p.m. Tuesday through Friday and returns at 4:50 p.m. The Potomac Riverboat Co. offers the tours, which leave from the Alexandria City Marina at King and Union streets, directly behind the Torpedo Factory Art Center. The cost, which includes the entrance fee to Mount Vernon, is $26 for adults, $13 for children ages 6 through 12, free for children under 6. For information, call 703/548-9000.
