NEW YORK (AP) Crystal Robinson scored 15 points and the New York Liberty clinched second place in the WNBA's Eastern Conference with a 71-56 victory over the Washington Mystics last night.

The win, combined with Miami's loss to Charlotte last night, gave the Liberty the homecourt advantage in the best-of-three playoff series which starts Friday night at Miami.

New York finished the season with a 21-11 record, including the most wins in franchise history.

Robinson, who started all 32 games for the Liberty this season, reached double figures for 18th time. New York also remained undefeated (13-0) when scoring 70 or more points.

Vickie Johnson and Tari Phillips each added 12 points for the Liberty.

Chamique Holdsclaw had 17 points to lead Washington (10-22).

The Liberty, who led 31-28 at halftime, broke the game open when Teresa Weatherspoon scored six straight points to give them a 47-36 lead with 11:18 to play.
