An important lesson can be learned from the fact that Israel is allowing Germany to be a mediator in the conflict with the Palestinians (“Ex-militant Fischer in Mideast peace bid,” Aug. 22). If Israel can forgive Germany for what it did to Jews 60 years ago, it certainly can forgive the Palestinians and establish peace. The Palestinians must also forgive the Israelis for this recent wave of violence. That's the answer to this whole mess: forgiveness, and it doesn't take a political scientist to figure that out.
