The Washington Wizards will return to the University of North Carolina Wilmington this fall for training camp in the hometown of president of basketball operations Michael Jordan.

The team also announced its seven-game preseason schedule yesterday. The Wizards will play just one game at MCI Center, Oct. 20 against the New Jersey Nets. The team will play its first preseason game Oct. 11 against the Detroit Pistons at the Palace of Auburn Hills. The schedule also includes a game against the Eastern Conference champion Philadelphia 76ers.

"This schedule is favorable to the team as well as the fans," said Jordan, who is contemplating a comeback. "We play games against some of the top teams in the East, including Philadelphia, Toronto and Miami, which will help the team better prepare for the season. And with one game at MCI Center fans will get an early opportunity to see the team in action."

Before moving the camp to Wilmington, the Wizards trained at Shepherd College in Shepherdstown, W.Va. Previously, Washington held its training camp at Gettysburg (Pa.) College in 1988 and 1989 and at Mount St. Mary's College in 1991 before moving the camp to Shepherd from 1992 to 1999.
