Tuesday — 12/18: The Lincoln Group of the District of Columbia will hear Ed Bearss, a noted historian and chairman of the group's board of governors, discuss "How Lincoln Compares With Other Presidents as a Military Leader" at its dinner meeting. Today — 12/15: Civil War Santa, Confederate style, comes to the National Museum of Civil War Medicine in the person of historian Robert W. Parker from 1 to 4 p.m. A display of 19th-century toys is included in the program, with treats for the youngsters. The museum is at 43 E. Patrick St. in downtown Frederick. Today — 12/15: Sons of Confederate Veterans, Camp Trimble, meets at 7:30 p.m. at Mount Ida Mansion in Ellicott City. The speaker will be Dan Toomey, on the Confederate Soldiers Home.


Today — 12/15: Christmas in the Field at Sully Plantation in Chantilly includes Confederate and Union encampments and Victorian Christmas in the house, 4:30 to 7:30 p.m.; $6 for adults. Call 703/437-1794.
