From the District, take the Theodore Roosevelt Memorial Bridge into Arlington via Route 50. At Pershing Drive, the entrance to Fort Myer will be on the left. Cars are not permitted to turn left from that direction, however, so visitors must exit to the right, perform a U-turn and cross Route 50 to enter the gate. To reach the Old Guard Museum, turn right at the main thoroughfare. To reach the John C. McKinney Memorial Stables, turn left at the main thoroughfare; the barn is straight ahead.

Parking is sufficient and there is no fee at either location.

There is no charge to visit the museum or the stables. Tours aren't given, but visitors are free to explore on their own.

HOURS: The museum is open 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Mondays through Saturdays, and 1 to 4 p.m. Sundays. Closed Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year's days. The stables are open to the public daily from noon to 4 p.m.

INFORMATION: Museum: 703/696-6670; stables: 703/696-3018. Information about both attractions can be accessed via the Web site at www.mdw.army.mil/oldguard.
