BOSTON The Wizards yesterday waived forward Loy Vaught, who earlier in the season notified the team that he wanted to retire due to his surgically repaired back.
Vaught had two years remaining on his contract that would pay him approximately $11 million over the next two seasons. However, Vaught's contract will count against the salary cap at least through this season.
Most likely, Vaught will receive the remainder of his salary paid out in increments.
Vaught had a titanium disc placed in his back in 1997.
