Location: The C&O National Historical Park can be found at 11710 MacArthur Blvd. in Potomac.

Directions: From the Beltway, take Exit 41W (Clara Barton Parkway). Take the parkway to MacArthur Boulevard. The park is located at MacArthur Boulevard and Falls Road.

Hours: The park is open dawn to dusk, and the visitors center is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily. The Canal Clipper boat ride runs through October and resumes in March. The boat runs Saturday and Sunday at 11 a.m. and 1:30, 3 and 4:30 p.m.; and Wednesday, Thursday and Friday at 11 a.m. and 1:30 and 3 p.m.

Fee: Entrance to the park is $5 per vehicle. The Canal Clipper boat ride is $8 for adults, $6 for seniors (62 and over), $3 for children ages 4 to 14. Children 3 and younger ride free. The hourlong boat ride might be too slow and confining for children younger than 4.

Parking: Plentiful and free.

Notes: Historical information and a bookstore are available at the Great Falls Tavern Visitors Center. The park has many miles of hiking and biking trails as well as scenic overlooks of the Potomac.
