If you want a bigger hunk of country reality, head out to the 59th annual Montgomery County Fair. It starts tomorrow and runs through Aug. 17, at the 59-acre Montgomery County Fairgrounds in Gaithersburg.

With 12 outbuildings, this bulging fair has 2,000 volunteers and is one of the largest fairs on the East Coast. Yet it strongly holds onto its 4-H tradition, as it came out of the need to hold a 4-H and Future Farmers of America show.

For details see the list below, which also includes upcoming fairs in the area.
