Seen and heard last night at MCI Center:
ALEXANDER OUT The Wizards announced they have placed guard Courtney Alexander on the injured list because of a left ankle sprain that he re-injured in practice. This is Alexander's second stint on the injured list this season.
Coach Doug Collins said he expects Christian Laettner, who has been out with a broken fibula, to practice with the team tomorrow and eventually take the roster spot created by Alexander. Laettner could play Tuesday or Wednesday, but Collins said it is likely Laettner's first game action will come Saturday at Chicago. Richard Hamilton, on the injured list with a pulled groin, could also return this week.
Alexander has missed the last six games with his injury. Thought to be one of the franchise's promising players, Alexander struggled in his role with the team during the early parts of the season.
BOBBLEHEAD NIGHT Another sign that the bobblehead doll craze is veering out of control: the first 10,000 Wizards fans received Kwame Brown bobbleheads. … The Timberwolves' Joe Smith, a former No. 1 overall draft pick out of Maryland, did not make the trip for the game because of a calf injury that has held him out of the last eight games.
