Directions: Ford's Theatre National Historic Site, including the Lincoln Museum, is located at 511 10th St. NW, between E and F streets. Metro riders should use the Metro Center, Gallery Place or Archives/Navy Memorial stations.

Hours: Ford's is open daily except Christmas Day from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Free docent presentations, approximately 15 minutes in duration, usually are scheduled every hour on the quarter hour.

Admission: There is no charge to Ford's Theatre. Docents and National Park Service personnel recommend a winter visit; in the spring, they say, the theater has thousands of visitors per day and the lines wrap around the block.

Parking: Public pay lots abound. Attendants at the lot next door to the theater charge $11 for a one- to two-hour visit.

Information: Call 202/426-6924. The National Park Service site focusing on Ford's Theatre is temporarily inoperable, but try www.fordstheatre.org for information about the theater and performances there.
