A spacious brick Colonial with lots of amenities is on the market on a quiet cul-de-sac in Potomac.

The house is on two acres set far back from the road and priced at $879,000. It has a long private macadam driveway. The lot, on Maidens Bower Drive, is partly wooded with a stream on one side.

With a convenient yet secluded location, it is about five miles out River Road from the village of Potomac, which puts it about eight miles from the River Road interchange with the Beltway.

The house, built in 1995, has a two-story entry foyer with a light gray marble floor and a formal oak staircase rising to a balcony overlook on the second-floor hall.

There is a double front door of natural wood with a huge Palladian window above it.

Formal living and dining rooms are on either side of the foyer, each with an arched entryway flanked by ornamental Doric columns. These two rooms each have two Palladian windows facing the front yard, and they have gleaming oak flooring.

At the rear is a family room with a two-story vaulted ceiling and a brick fireplace with a raised hearth. This room also has a balcony overlook from upstairs and a sliding glass door to a deck facing the back yard.

There is a large kitchen with a breakfast nook, also with a glass door to the deck. The kitchen, breakfast nook and a nearby combination laundry and mud room all have floors of off-white ceramic tile.

The mud room has a door to the back yard and another to the attached two-car side-entry garage.

There is a walk-in pantry off the kitchen and a second storage closet in the mud room.

The kitchen cabinets are a glowing cherry and the kitchen includes a useful built-in desk. Some of the cabinets have doors with windows for display of crystal and china. The counters are off-white, as is the top of a cherry center island with cooktop. The appliances are white. Also on the first floor is a music room or library with an oak floor and a carpeted sunroom that doubles as a computer room.

The house has five bedrooms and 4 1/2 baths.

The powder room is on the first floor, off the foyer, and has a light gray marble floor, a white pedestal sink and a large oval mirror with beveled edges.

Four of the bedrooms and three of the full baths are on the second floor. One of those baths is in the master bedroom suite, and another forms a second suite with a second bedroom. The other two bedrooms have a bathroom between them.

The fifth bedroom and fourth full bath are on the walkout lower level.

Also on the lower level is a large recreation room with the house's second brick fireplace with raised hearth. This room has a sliding glass door to the yard.

The second floor is carpeted in light gray, and there is a light gray runner on the formal staircase.

The lower level and its staircase have tweedlike Berber carpeting.

All the upstairs bathrooms have ceramic tile floors except the master bath. That and the lower-level bathroom have marble flooring.

The master bedroom suite is large and luxurious. It has double doors from the hall that enter a sitting room. There is an arched doorway flanked by ornamental columns between the sitting room and the bedroom and another set of double doors between the bedroom and the master bath.

The bedroom has a vaulted ceiling, and there are two skylights in the bathroom.

The bathroom has a whirlpool tub set into a marble surround and a separate shower with a dual shower head and built-in bench. There are his-and-her cherry vanities with Corian tops and a private water closet within the bathroom.

Between the bedroom and the bathroom are his-and-her closets with mirrored double doors. There are two linen closets in the bathroom.

The house has ample storage space, with many closets plus an unfinished combination storage and utility room on the lower level and an attic reached via a pull-down staircase in one of the upstairs bedrooms.

There are two coat closets on the first floor, one off the foyer and the other off the kitchen. There are three closets and a built-in bookcase in the recreation room.
