Seen and heard last night at MCI Center:

ALEXANDER IN, LAETTNER OUT The Wizards activated guard Courtney Alexander before the game even though he is woefully out of condition.

To facilitate the move, the Wizards placed Christian Laettner on the injured list with a bruised right thigh. Laettner, who was activated before the team played at Chicago over the weekend, already had missed 14 games with a broken left fibula. He will be eligible to return Feb. 3 when the Wizards play host to the Indiana Pacers.

Alexander has played in a team-low 16 games this season. However, the Wizards are hopeful he will be able to come in right away, in spite of his injury, and give them some valuable minutes. With Hubert Davis playing far more minutes than he is used to at shooting guard, Alexander should be able to get some minutes there and at point guard.

STAT FACT The Wizards have overtaken the San Antonio Spurs as the top 3-point shooting team in the league. Going into the game the Wizards were shooting 39.5 percent from behind the arc.
