THE HAGUE The new Audi A8 will be built on an aluminum space frame, and its body will be of the light-weight aluminum as well. The new A8 has standard all-wheel drive and air suspension with three modes. A sport version of that air suspension is optional.
The A8 will arrive in showrooms by the end of the year and will be offered with your choice of two V-8 engines: a 3.7-liter developing 280 horsepower and a 335-horsepower 4.2 liter engine. Later on the W-12 engine and an eight-cylinder diesel will be made available.
The V-8 engines will be teamed to a Tiptronic six-speed automatic transmission. New for Audi are adaptive cruise control and cornering headlamps. Both systems will be optional. Prices for the freshened models reportedly will be released in Paris at the auto show.
