Location: The National Aquarium is housed in the basement of the Department of Commerce building, Room B-077, 14th Street and Constitution Avenue NW.

Hours: The aquarium is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily except Christmas. The last admission is at 4:30 p.m. A self-guided tour takes about 45 minutes to an hour. Animal feedings are scheduled daily at 2 p.m. Sharks are fed Monday, Wednesday and Saturday; piranhas on Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday; alligators on Friday.

Admission and parking: Admission is $3 for adults and 75 cents for children ages 2 to 10; children younger than 2 are admitted free. The National Aquarium entrance is in the Department of Commerce building on 14th Street, halfway between Pennsylvania and Constitution avenues. The aquarium can be accessed by the Federal Triangle stop on Metro's Orange and Blue lines. Exit the Metro and cut through the Ronald Reagan Building and International Trade Center. otherwise, it's a long walk around. There is no designated parking available for the aquarium; however, garages and some street parking are available in the vicinity.

Note: No food or drink is permitted in the aquarium. A food court is across the street within the Ronald Reagan Building. The on-site National Aquarium gift shop contains all manner of souvenirs and educational materials.
