Mike Hammer and Steve Dusseau led fifth-ranked Georgetown to a 14-7 lacrosse victory over 14th-ranked Navy yesterday at Harbin Field.
Hammer had four goals and Dusseau added four goals and an assist.
Georgetown (6-0, 3-0 ECAC) opened up the scoring on Trevor Walker's goal 2:05 into the first quarter. Hammer then turned around and scored his first goal off an assist from Dusseau nine seconds later to build the Hoyas a 2-0 lead. Navy (5-3, 1-2) regained its composure and responded with two goals, the first by Dave Pittard at the 8:57 mark and the second from Kelly Nash with 1:25 to play in the period.
Hammer came back with his second goal with 36 seconds left in the quarter to give the Hoyas a lead they would not relinquish.
Georgetown broke the game open in the second quarter with four goals in the first seven minutes, including two by Dusseau. Navy stopped the four-goal run when Eddie McKinnon scored from the outside. Georgetown used the last minute of the half to net two more goals; both Dusseau and Hammer scored their third goals apiece. Georgetown headed off the field with a 10-4 halftime lead.
