Location:

The Flying Circus Aerodrome is in Bealeton, Va., southeast of Warrenton.

Directions:

From the Beltway, take Route 66 west to 29 south toward Warrenton. Pass through Warrenton and take Route 17 south. After about eight miles, you will see large grain silos and a small sign for the flying circus on the left. Turn left and follow the road to the aerodrome.

Shows and showtimes:

The Flying Circus air shows are scheduled every Sunday from May through October. Upcoming events include Airshow and Spring Hot Air Balloon Rally (June 2), Airshow and Model Rocket Day (June 9), Father's Day Special Airshow and Model-T Antique Car Day (June 16), and Airshow and Women in Aviation Day (June 23). The gates and field open at 11 a.m. and the shows begin at 2:30 p.m. Open-cockpit rides are sold during the hours preceding the show, although at 2 p.m. all crew members must report to the hangar for a briefing.

Admission and parking:

Tickets are $10 for adults, $3 for children ages 3-12, free for children under 3. Group rates are available. Parking is plentiful and included in the price of admission.

Hints and details:

Seating is open and informal. Spectators can sit on any of the rows and rows of wooden benches, pull the car up for a tailgate event, or bring blankets and lawn chairs to spread out. Optimal viewing areas receive the full force of the sun, so don't forget the sunscreen, hats and sunglasses. A snack bar sells cold drinks and snacks at reasonable prices. Picnic tables and benches are set up in a shady wooded area. Binoculars will help you see some of the higher acts such as the wing-walkers and the sky divers jumping from the aircraft.
