SAN DIEGO (AP) Monica Gerardo had a goal and an assist as the Washington Freedom beat San Diego 3-0 last night in Women's United Soccer Association action.
Jacqui Little and Abby Wambach added goals for the Freedom (2-2), playing without injured star Mia Hamm.
The three-goal outburst was the biggest in the Freedom's two-year history.
Washington had scored two goals 12 times previously.
The Spirit dropped to 1-2-1.
A crowd of 6,311 fans attended the game at Torero Stadium.
