Seen and heard last night at MCI Center:

BONDRA, KOLZIG, GONCHAR SELECTED# — Forward Peter Bondra, goalie Olie Kolzig and defenseman Sergei Gonchar were the three active players voted by fans to the Caps’ team of the past decade. The others were forwards Dale Hunter (1987-1999) and Adam Oates (1997-2002) and defenseman Calle Johansson (1989-2003).

Bondra was the top vote-getter, receiving 5,276 of a possible 5,776 votes. The five-time All-Star is the Caps’ all-time leading scorer with 814 goals and 466 points. Kolzig, the 2000 Vezina Trophy winner, received 5,203 votes. He holds virtually every team record for goalies. Gonchar, a three-time All-Star who leads NHL defensemen with 35 points and 31 assists, was third with 4,619 votes.

Johansson, whose 983 games and 474 points by a defenseman are Caps records, received 4,135 votes. Hunter, whose series-winning goal in the 1988 playoffs against Philadelphia is one of the Caps’ all-time highlights, received 3,702 votes. Oates received 1,685.
