Seen and heard last night at MCI Center:

HOW DO YOU SAY THAT? One needs a pronunciation guide to get a handle on the Friars. Here's a quick breakdown on how you pronounce seven Friars names: F Romuald Augustin (Ro-Meal AUGUST-Tin); G Sheiku Kabba (Shay-Koo KAA-Baa); F Chris Anrin (Chris ANN-Rin); C Marcus Douthit (Marcus DOW-Thit); F Maris Laksa (Maris LACK-Sa); F Tuukka Kotti (TWO-Kaa COAT-Tee); and F Stephen Traugott (Stephen TRAW-Get).

A MAN OF MANY ALIASES Donnie McGrath, Providence's freshman point guard, has more than one nickname. The 6-foot-4 McGrath, who is second in the Big East in assist/turnover ratio with 2.19, goes by "D," "D-Mac," and "D-Cash."

SOMEBODY HELP THIS GUY OUT Providence 6-foot-9 Latvian forward Laksa lists the Los Angeles Lakers as his favorite team, but Toni Kukoc as his favorite player. The last time we looked Kukoc was coming off the bench for the Milwaukee Bucks while Lakers guard Kobe Bryant has scored 40 or more points in nine straight games. Perhaps Laksa should adopt a player off his favorite team to be his favorite player.

SWITCHING DATES Georgetown's game at West Virginia, originally scheduled for next Wednesday in Morgantown, W.Va., has been rescheduled for Monday at 7 p.m. This change doesn't do the Hoyas any favors. On Saturday, the Hoyas face No. 15 Syracuse at MCI Center and then have to bus to Morgantown to play the Mountaineers on one day's rest which could determine whether the Hoyas qualify for the Big East tournament.
