DALLAS, Jan. 9 (UPI) — A passenger walked from a checkpoint during baggage screening at Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport Thursday, forcing a security alert and an evacuation.

The man was not found after a search and passengers were allowed to return to terminals after about two hours, according to Ed Martelle, a spokesman for the Transportation Security Administration.

The breach occurred about 2 p.m. in Terminal A when a screener was testing a bag for explosive material after a preliminary alarm, Martelle said. When the screener had her back turned, the man walked away from the checkpoint.

"She and her supervisor, within seconds, headed out into the concourse looking for this man but they could not find him," he said.

Terminals A, B, and C were evacuated after the security alert and passengers waited outside in lines until the search was completed.

Martelle said security personnel don't know if the man was intentionally trying to evade detection or just became frustrated with the security checks.
