The Woodmore neighborhood in Bowie is a private, gated community filled with amenities associated with the Woodmore Country Club — tennis, swimming and golf.

Set on a hill here on a 2-acre lot is a brick Georgian home encompassing about 7,000 square feet of living space. An elevator provides convenient access to the home’s three levels.

On the market for $1.25 million, the five-bedroom, four-full-bathroom home offers an array of luxury features and amenities.

Hardwood floors and 9-foot ceilings enhance the home’s design. Crown molding and chair-rail molding add elegance to the soaring two-story foyer, which owes its brightness to a window above the entrance door.

The foyer separates the formal living room and dining room, both of which face the front grounds. A gas fireplace and marble hearth in the living room is one of three fireplaces throughout the home.

French doors flank either side of the living room fireplace and draw attention to an open sunroom situated on the side of the home. The sunroom has partial wood-paneled walls and wooden plantation blinds.

Behind the living room, a library provides space to work at home. This room features built-in shelving and crown molding.

Nearby is a bathroom with a black-and-white marble sink and brass fixtures.

The formal dining room has crown molding and is big enough to accommodate a large table for hosting dinners with family and friends.

Spacious and bright, the country kitchen is an enticing gathering spot where people will want to enjoy meals and linger. Skylights and recessed lights border the kitchen ceiling in a decorative arrangement. Cabinet and counter space is plentiful, and the kitchen includes a large center island. Two of the cabinets have small, angled, built-in display shelves.

Appliances, such as the gas range and grill, double oven, and side-by-side refrigerator, all convey to the new owners.

A large dinette area in one corner of the kitchen looks out onto the wood deck. The large deck wraps around one corner of the home and extends from the kitchen to the family room. Doors from both rooms lead to the deck. Stairs from the deck lead to the expansive back yard with a wooded view.

A lavish family room strategically placed in the center of the house boasts a two-story ceiling accented by two skylights and ceiling fans, a brick fireplace and a wall of windows.

Rounding out the main level is a laundry room off the kitchen with a door leading to the roomy three-car garage.

The upstairs can be accessed by front or rear staircases, or by taking the electric elevator, which is equipped with a telephone.

The master suite has a double-door entrance and anchors one end of the hall. Features in the master bedroom include walk-in closets, a bath with his-and-hers vanities, a Jacuzzi tub and a large shower. As a bonus, the master suite has a doorway leading into a smaller home office off the bedroom. This room includes a wet bar.

Three additional bedrooms with ceiling fans and two additional full baths are on this floor. Two of the bedrooms on the far end of the hall are connected by a step-down, Jack-and-Jill bathroom. Another bedroom comes with its own full bath.

From the main level, a decorative wrought-iron gate leads to a stairway to the completely finished walkout basement.

Many above-ground windows give this space the feeling more of an upper level than of a basement. The space is creatively divided.

A large, stylish serving bar, with a sink and a long row of cabinets, dominates the recreation room. There is also a game room with walls of large windows, an exercise room and another room with no windows that could become a home theater.

Ceramic tile and carpet cover the floor while recessed lighting highlights the ceiling. A fifth bedroom and a full bathroom on this level could be used as a guest suite.

Buyers looking for privacy but who enjoy also socializing might consider the home’s location near the elegantly appointed Woodmore clubhouse and restaurant.

Because of the large lot, kept green with help from an underground lawn sprinkler, the new buyer could add a swimming pool, basketball court or additional garages.

Once completed, the Woodmore community will be home to less than 400 single-family residences on 799 wooded acres.
