LONDON, March 23 (UPI) — Two British soldiers are missing in southern Iraq after their vehicles were attacked, the British Ministry of Defense said Monday.

A spokesman from the MoD told British Broadcasting Corp. News Online efforts were being made to locate the soldiers who went missing Sunday.

"Efforts are being made to find and recover the two soldiers," the spokesman said. "Further information will be given when available."

No other details were provided.

News of the missing soldiers comes as 12 U.S. solders were captured by the Iraqis.
