SAN FRANCISCO — Jaguar North America announced this week that a new model will be coming for the U.S. market, the X-Type Sportwagon. This is the first station wagon ever offered by the luxury car- maker.

The all-new Sportwagon completes the X-Type series that now consists of the compact sport sedan that was launched in the summer of 2001. The all-wheel-drive Sportwagon will include a 3.0-liter V-6 engine with a five-speed automatic transmission, just like the sedan version. The new entry features a versatile split tailgate with an independently opening rear window.

The Jaguar X-Type Sportwagon is expected to go on sale in November with pricing in the mid $30,000 range.
