Last night at Comcast Center

Maryland is promoting “The 12 Dunks of Gistmas” and freshman forward James Gist delivered another for the highlight video with a slammer for a 52-48 lead with 11:06 remaining that sparked a 16-point run to seal the win.

“As long as I get into the flow of the game, that’s all I have to do. I don’t have to score. I just want to solidify my place in the rotation and earn more and more minutes.”

— Terps center Will Bowers

TOO NOSEY: AU guard Jason Thomas cooled quickly after suffering a bloody nose nearly seven minutes into the game. Thomas opened with three 3-pointers before getting injured, then went scoreless until 12:43 remained. Naturally, he scored on a 3-point play.

A MOUTHFUL: Forward Mike Grinnon was on the Maryland bench but didn’t play after undergoing oral surgery Wednesday.

THE FUTURE: Junior forward Landon Milbourne of Alpharetta, Ga., verbally committed to Maryland for 2006.
