D.C. police yesterday arrested a suspect in a series of bomb threats that closed parts of the Metro system for several hours in December.

Jason Foster, 25, is charged with making a false bomb threat over the telephone, police said.

Mr. Foster lived in the 400 block of Oklahoma Avenue NE, about a block from the location of a bomb threat Dec. 12, when a caller told police that a bomb was placed near a Metro overpass.

A suspicious device was found and exploded in the parking lot at RFK Stadium, but police said it contained no explosives.

Four schools in the area were evacuated as a precaution, and students at two other schools were told to remain in the building.

Mr. Foster is scheduled to appear today in U.S. District Court.
