Seen and heard last night at MCI Center:

ARENAS MARCHING ALONG — Gilbert Arenas was having his best month of the season through the first 10 games.

This month Arenas was averaging 29.3 points, 6.8 assists and 4.6 rebounds. Before his injury against Seattle in November, the Wizards’ point guard was averaging 21.5 points, 5.4 assists and 5.3 rebounds.

THOMAS ON FIRE — Over the last five games, the Wizards’ Etan Thomas had averaged 16 points and 7.4 rebounds. In that same stretch Thomas has shot 66 percent from the field.

ACTION JACKSON — Stephen Jackson has been a decent free agent acquisition for the Hawks, averaging 16.9 and going for a high of 42 against the Wizards. However, the former San Antonio Spur has been on fire lately, scoring 30 or more points in four of the Hawks’ last six games. Most notable perhaps is that he did it while averaging 28 minutes.

THROWBACK — Five Hawks finished with 20 or more points when they pummeled the Wizards 138-124 last week. The previous time the Hawks had five players do so was Nov. 13, 1968, when Lou Hudson (28), Joe Caldwell (26), Bill Bridges (20), Walt Hazzard (20) and Jim Davis (22) pulled it off.
