Who would have thought accounting and public relations go together? Frank & Co. did.

The McLean accounting firm has started a company that specializes in public relations for nonprofit organizations.

Communications Resources LLC offers communication, marketing and organizational management counsel and support to nonprofits. Frank & Co. has been offering accounting and auditing services to nonprofits for 26 years.

“Nonprofits and associations have numerous challenges both internally and externally that can be turned into opportunities with proper communications, marketing and organizational planning,” said Robert H. Frank, Frank & Co.’s managing partner. “These organizations truly need expert advice in today’s competitive market.”

The affiliate is headed by Alan Greilsamer, former director of communications for the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Fund. Mr. Frank serves as treasurer and secretary for the nonprofit organization, which is responsible for the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in the District.

“Nonprofits have needs,” said Mr. Greilsamer, who is vice president of Communications Resources. “While they are great causes, they have trouble getting their messages out.”

Eisner wins new business

Eisner Communications, based in Baltimore, has added $10 million in new billings.

The new business includes a product kickoff initiative for Polk Audio, which has created the first XM Satellite Radio audio tuner designed to be used in home systems. Eisner has created an ad campaign to build awareness of the product, which will be sold at retailers and online.

Eisner also was named agency of record for Werner Ladders, a climbing equipment manufacturer and distributor. The agency will reintroduce the brand through public relations efforts, events and promotions and rebuilding its Web site.

Eisner also will create a campaign for Johns Hopkins Medicine.

Other new wins

• Maya Advertising and Communications, a multicultural ad agency based in the District, was hired by Comcast to provide media relations services for a fall campaign targeting Hispanics.

• River City Marketing in Fairfax has been hired by Comfort Keepers-Fairfax, which assists families with in-home care options, to create and implement a public relations program that will focus on building corporate identity and awareness.

• MGH Advertising & Public Relations, based in Owings Mills, Md., has won three new accounts. The agency will design and produce a direct mail piece for Merrill Lynch’s consumer banking group. Pfizer Inc. has hired MGH to develop and manage a public outreach campaign to increase awareness of the Medicare-approved drug discount card program among senior citizens and family caregivers in the Miami area. The agency also was retained by Stewart Warner Performance of Lancaster, Pa., to help kick off an advertising, branding and media relations campaign for the company, which specializes in engineering performance speedometers, tachometers and gauges for the automotive industry.
