The Cathedral Choral Society awarded philanthropist Virginia Cretella Mars its Laura E. Phillips Angel of the Arts Award at Washington’s Ritz-Carlton Hotel Saturday night. Mrs. Mars (at left between her daughters Victoria MarsandPamela Wright) was honored for her generosity to local and national non-profit organizations, including the National Symphony, Washington National Cathedral, and the Cathedral Choral Society, where she has served as a trustee for six years. Guests included Hilda and Arturo Brillembourg (left in photo at right with Choral Society Director J. Reilly Lewis), Jacqueline B. Mars, Bill and Dorothy McSweeny, Bitsey Folger and Dr. Sidney Werkman, and Rev. Samuel T. Lloyd III, dean of Washington National Cathedral.
