A white stucco home in Chevy Chase Village has evolved from a 1919 manor house to an estate meticulously enlarged with a three-story addition in 1991.

The well-designed home doesn’t reveal all its treasures at once. Yet behind the white picket fence at the front entrance are some astonishing amenities — a 2,000-bottle wine cellar, a large lap pool and a built-in hot tub. The home is being offered for $3,795,000.

The driveway off Broad Branch Road leads to a dramatically arched covered parking space that is connected to the home.

The grounds of the home have been featured in the Chevy Chase House and Garden Tour and have exotic flowers, shrubbery and trees. Thousands of tulips and hundreds of daffodils bloom here in spring. English boxwoods are protected from the winter snow by custom covers.

At the entrance are a flourishing magnolia tree and weeping cherry tree. Complementing the landscape is a wraparound room that the owners call a Bermuda room, which serves as the home’s main entry.

Similar to a enclosed porch, the Bermuda room blurs the line between indoors and outdoors with custom Mexican tile floors, stucco walls, a bead-board ceiling and rows of windows. Two ceiling fans and wall sconces offer stylish accents in the room, where the owner has hosted parties for up to 50 people.

Glass doors lead to a grand center foyer that offers an open view into both the living room and dining room on opposite ends.

The foyer features a handcrafted staircase in the center of the lengthy hall. Hardwood floors elegantly combine with the richly painted walls in burgundy, tan and peach in the front portion of the house.

A set of wide French doors opens into the dining room to the left of the foyer. This dining room has a side bay window with architectural details and is large enough to accommodate a table with seating for at least 10 dinner guests.

Across the foyer is a spacious living room offering a marble fireplace and mantel with detailed carvings. Ten recessed lights highlight the ceiling, and several windows look out into the Bermuda room.

This family room is a bright gathering space with an arched bay window that has built-in seating.

Additional features in the family room include a gas fireplace surrounded by cherry floor-to-ceiling built-ins, a beamed ceiling, and French doors that overlook the backyard pool and patio. Nearby is a walk-in closet for storing household appliances.

The kitchen and powder room both feature custom French tiles. The bright and cheery kitchen has white cabinetry, some with glass fronts, and a wall-size bay window with built-in cushioned seating and room for a table. Dark granite counters provide a great contrast to the white cabinets and white ceramic sink.

A center island features a gas cooktop. A refrigerator/freezer and dishwasher are among the other appliances.

The staircase comes to a peak above the foyer, creating a music area acoustically designed with a 20-foot ceiling to accommodate a grand piano.

Splitting into two smaller sets of stairs, the steps continue upward to the second-floor hall, creating a balcony effect overlooking the music room. Four bedrooms and three full bathrooms occupy this level — including the richly appointed master suite.

A 14-foot vaulted ceiling soars high above the master bedroom, where there is also a gas fireplace with an antique mantel surrounded by two built-in armoires, and a Juliet-style balcony.

Marble covers the floors and counters in the bathroom, turning it into a spalike retreat. Features include a whirlpool tub, steam shower and mirrored wall above the his-and-hers sinks.

Two of the remaining bedrooms on this floor share a bath, while the fourth bedroom has its own bathroom and a bay window. A laundry chute channels clothes to the lower-level laundry room.

More stairs lead to the spacious third level, which was once used as a ballroom. This room can be used as a recreation area and boasts tall ceilings and full windows. There’s also a bathroom on this floor, along with a computer room that has space for six computer stations.

The amenity-filled lower level is home to the 2,000-bottle wine cellar, which was added last year. Here, too, is the exercise gym with a 14-foot ceiling, mirrored walls, a television mount and a full-sized steam room.

Guests can stay over in the lower-level bedroom with a half bath. The room could be used for an au pair suite.

In addition, the lower level has the laundry room and four storage rooms with plenty of cabinet space.

The 15-by-60-foot lap pool is in the back yard. The professionally maintained pool is surrounded by flagstone and features a hot tub, automatic pool cleaner and automatic safety cover. A decorative wall features lion head spouts that sprinkle water into the pool.

Backyard gatherings are enhanced by lighting, outdoor speakers and a built-in gas grill.
