• The Virginia General Assembly appointed C. Michael Ferraro to a committee studying state work force development and training resources. Mr. Ferraro is president and chief executive officer of Training Solutions Inc., a professional development firm in Fairfax County.

• Holly Lass was named D.C. representative of the National Beer Wholesalers Association, a trade group based in Alexandria. Ms. Lass was a manager of federal relations at Reliant Energy, a Houston and Dallas energy company.


• Mark K. Erdly was named principal at Cannon Design, an Arlington construction design firm. Mr. Erdly worked with the Naval Sea Systems Command Headquarters in the District.

cDavid Daileda was named principal and director of operations at architecture and engineering firm DMJM Design’s D.C. office. Mr. Daileda was architecture studio director and senior project manager for Gensler, a D.C. architecture firm.


• Doreen Shute was promoted to senior manager at Clifton Gunderson, a Clifton, Md., accounting firm. Wilson Kayo and Matthew Parent were promoted to senior associates at the firm.

• MaryBeth Mitchell and Brian Pollack were promoted to managers at Lanigan, Ryan, Malcolm & Doyle PC, a Gaithersburg accounting firm. Ms. Mitchell has been with the firm since January 2003; Mr. Pollack has been with the firm since 1997.


• Margaret Zwisler, William Sherman and Eric J. McCarthy were named partners in Latham & Watkins LLP’s D.C. office. All were partners at Howrey LLP, another D.C. firm.

• Ralph V. De Martino was named vice chairman of the national securities practice group of Cozen O’Connor. Mr. De Martino, who will be working in the Philadelphia firm’s D.C. office, previously worked for Dilworth Paxson LLP in Philadelphia.


• Amanda Karfakis was named vice president of communications at Vitamin Inc., a Baltimore marketing and graphic design firm. Ms. Karfakis was public relations director at Planit, a Baltimore marketing and communications agency.

cConnie Weaver was named executive vice president and chief marketing officer at BearingPoint Inc., a McLean business consulting firm. Ms. Weaver was executive vice president of public relations, marketing and brand at AT&T;, the phone company based in Bedminster, N.J.


• Ann McCarthy was named executive editor at DC, a new luxury lifestyle publication of Modern Luxury Magazines LLC that will begin publication in September. Ms. McCarthy was managing editor and travel editor at Saveur magazine, a food and wine magazine published in New York.


• Josh Ackil was promoted to vice president of government relations at the Information Technology Industry Council. Also at the D.C. technology lobbying group, Ann Rollins was named vice president for trade and technology policy. Ms. Rollins joined ITI in 1999 and was director of trade and technology policy. Mr. Ackil joined ITI in 2003 and was director of government relations.


• Douglas Bereuter was named to LMI, a McLean government consulting company. Mr. Bereuter is president of the Asia Foundation and former U.S. congressman from Nebraska.


• Steve Ross was named vice president of Equis Corp., a D.C. real estate firm. Mr. Ross previously worked at Trammell Crow, another D.C. real estate firm.

• Dennis L. Perkins was named vice president of brokerage services at Trammell Crow, a D.C. real estate firm. Mr. Perkins was a broker at Cushman & Wakefield, another D.C. firm.
