The Times erred in reporting yesterday that neither Theodore Roosevelt nor Calvin Coolidge had invoked God in their inaugural addresses. President Roosevelt, who kissed the Bible on which he took his oath, expressed “gratitude to the Giver of Good” and President Coolidge said that America “cherishes no purpose save to merit the favor of Almighty God.”
