How did you get started in real estate? I got started in real estate because of my father-in-Law. My husband and I were trying to survive in this highly expensive area with two small children. He worked as a letter carrier. My father-in-law was a part-time Realtor in his retirement in Florida, and thought I might be a good Realtor, as well. I could work around my children’s schedule; subsidize our income; and provide a front seat to any good deals that would allow my husband and me to move from our condo to, finally, a single-family home. Then a very dear friend of mine took the leap and got her license. When I saw her do the class and pass the test, I finally took the plunge, as well. We started together at a company in Sterling called Town and Country Realtors. Town and Country is gone, and my good friend moved on to insurance, yet I stayed.

How long with the current company? A little more than 10 years.

Associations: Northern Virginia Board of Realtors

Greatest accomplishment in the past 12 months: I was top producer for 2004 in our office. I also started a charitable-contribution Web page (www.thegivingpost.com).

What is your area of specialty? First- and second-time homeowners

Highest-priced home sold: $950,000

Most memorable home: A beautiful all-stone historic home in Leesburg. It had quite a history, including being a hospital for a time during the Civil War. It was beautifully restored and updated, and the wonderful clients to whom I sold it loved it completely.

Age: 46

Family: Married; two grown daughters

Pets: Two dogs and two cats

Outside interests: Snow skiing, scuba diving, biking, travel and relaxing

Last book read: “The Time Traveler’s Wife,” by Audrey Niffenegger

Last movie seen: “Finding Neverland”

What kind of car do you drive? A Mini Cooper and an Infiniti FX35

What is your personal dream house? I am living in my dream home. I bought it last April. I live in Loudoun Valley Estates, and my new home has a suite on the main level, which gives my mother who lives with me, a space all her own. Upstairs, it provides the same suites for my college daughters to spread out when they are home for holidays and vacations. It is the perfect home for our family right now.
