Vacation homes sometimes skimp on the amenities expected in a family home, but at Bayside, the new residential community under development by Carl M. Freeman Communities LLC near Fenwick Island, Del., buyers can choose from 34 floor plans to meet their needs.

Condominiums, town homes and single-family homes are available in a variety of price ranges, and every home will have high-speed Internet access.

Buyers at Bayside will enjoy a shuttle to the shore, and the 18-hole Jack Nicklaus Signature golf course will open this summer. The par-72 course features salt marshes, meadows and woodlands, with views of the Assawoman Bay coastline and Ocean City on the opposite shore. Practice facilities at Bayside include a driving range, a putting green and a chipping green.

The focal point for the community will be the Bayside Village Center, a downtown area with restaurants, clothing and antiques shops, and conveniences such as a supermarket and a neighborhood bank.

The Bayside Recreation Center will also be located at the Bayside Village Center and will include a fitness center, tennis courts, swimming pools and social activities. Hiking and biking trails and nature trails will be designed into the community, and watersports will also be available to residents.

Bayside will keep 50 percent of its 867 acres as open space, and an environmental/educational center will be part of the community, along with nature trails. In addition, the development has invested in a conservation easement of more than 287 acres that will be left undisturbed.

Eventually, Bayside will have 1,640 homes, including condominiums priced from $400,000, town homes priced from $400,000, single-family homes priced from $450,000 and estate homes priced from $600,000.

All the homes at Bayside include “smart” wiring and access to the community intranet; fiber-cement siding; Andersen windows; ceramic-tile flooring in all kitchens, baths and foyers; tall ceilings; 42-inch maple kitchen cabinets; a gas fireplace; pre-wiring for ceiling fans; and gas heat and hot water.

The Milford town-home model, with 1,933 finished square feet, has a front porch leading to the lower-level entrance foyer, which opens onto a room labeled an “oasis” featuring casual family living space. The oasis includes a closet and an adjacent powder room, along with a door to the two-car garage.

The second level of this model has another powder room, the laundry room, a kitchen and breakfast area with a door to a covered porch, and a great room with a fireplace.

The third floor has a master suite with a walk-in closet and a private full bath with a large shower, plus two more bedrooms and a second full bath.

Options for the Milford include a first-floor bedroom and full bath, a third-floor suite in place of the two secondary bedrooms, a rear covered porch on the second level, and a deck off the third level.

The Fenwick single-family-home model, with 1,685 square feet, features a front porch; a foyer with an adjacent powder room; and an open floor plan with a great room with a fireplace, a dining room and a central kitchen.

This home has a screened porch off the dining room and a private first-floor master-suite wing with a walk-in closet and bath with a tub and separate shower.

On the opposite side of the home are two additional bedrooms, a second full bath, a laundry room and an entrance to the two-car garage.

Optional additions to this home include an unfinished second floor or one with a loft, one or two bedrooms, and a full bath. The living area can be expanded into the screened porch, and a deck can be added.
