Michelle Faucher, a former professional tennis player on the Women’s Tennis Association circuit who manages a Trader Joe’s store in the District, will be among participants in this weekend’s Endorphin Fix Two-Day Adventure Race along New River Gorge in West Virginia.

Competitors in the 100-mile-long race, which begins at midnight, will go without sleep for about two days and will climb 200-foot cliffs, kayak in Class III whitewater and mountain bike in the forest, often at night.

Miss Faucher, 27, is on a team with Coast Guard Lt. Kim Anderson, 37, who is stationed in the District and lives in Arnold, Md., and Midshipman Zeb Daniel of the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis.

The race is sponsored and operated by Odyssey Adventure Racing in Salem, Va.
