In 1985, MTV broadcast Bob Geldof’s “Live Aid” concerts to the world to raise money to fight hunger. Tomorrow, Mr. Geldof’s “Live 8” series of consciousness-raising concerts for African debt relief will once again be broadcast by MTV as well as a host of secondary channels.

The main telecast begins with select live coverage at noon tomorrow and runs through 8 p.m. on MTV as well as VH1 and MTV’s college network, mtvU. The networks will augment the performances, culled from concerts in Philadelphia, London, Paris, Berlin, Toronto, South Africa and Rome, with footage from the original “Live Aid” and information about the effort to raise awareness of worldwide poverty.

ABC plans a “best-of” broadcast of the day’s music at 8 p.m. tomorrow. On Sunday, VH1 Classic and CMT will broadcast highlights of the event during their day’s programming.
