Last night at Joseph Jacobs & Thompson Families Peace Center in Boston

With Boston down 101-99 with 28.9 seconds left, the Celtics’ Ricky Davis drove through the lane and hit a 10-foot scoop shot. He was fouled on the play and made the free throw to put Boston up 102-101. The Wizards did not score again.

After being known as FleetCenter from April 1995 to Feb.9, 2005, the Celtics’ arena has gone through a different name every day since, with various companies signing single-day naming rights. Yesterday it was a tribute to Joseph Jacobs, a California man who lost his battle against pancreatic cancer in January. Some of the more interesting names for the arena have been MyGrandma’sCoffeeCakesofNewEnglandCenter, Nocturnal Nannies Arena, UltimatePooch.comCenter and New Boston Garden, Home of Jimmy Fund Champions.
