THE WASHINGTON TIMES

Maryland and Georgetown will play host to second round games in the National Invitation Tournament next week.

Maryland will play host to the winner of tomorrow’s Southwest Missouri State-Davidson on Wednesday at Comcast Center. Today’s San Francisco-Cal State Fullerton victor visits Georgetown at McDonough Gymnasium on Tuesday. Times for both games are pending.

The NIT granted the Terps an exemption to play one day after the second round was scheduled to be completed. Comcast Center is unavailable through Tuesday because of the women’s NCAA tournament, but the 7,407 in attendance Wednesday for the Terps’ 85-72 victory over Oral Roberts impressed tournament officials enough to keep Maryland at home.

The Terps also expect to play host to a third-round game if they are still in the tournament.

Maryland and Georgetown could meet in the NIT semifinals on March29 at Madison Square Garden.
