Families are sometimes torn by their desire to live close to the beach but need to maintain a reasonable commuting distance to work.

Living in a community within minutes of resort-style amenities and a short drive from the Chesapeake Bay Bridge could be the solution for home buyers who need to continue living close to their jobs.

At Savannah Overlook in Denton in Maryland’s Caroline County, consumers will find a country setting with plenty of open space and single-family homes with four or five bedrooms, up to four full baths and reasonable prices.

Ryland Homes is offering six home styles at Savannah Overlook, with base prices ranging from $254,990 to $373,990.

The community is an easy drive from the Chesapeake Bay Bridge, Martinak State Park, hiking and biking trails, golf courses, lakes and marinas on the Choptank River and its creeks.

The homes have 2,403 to 4,152 finished square feet, with low-maintenance double 5-inch vinyl siding, decorative Colonial-style window grids, sodded yards and two-car or three-car garages. Buyers can add a brick front.

Inside, included features of these homes are raised six-panel doors; no-wax flooring in the foyer, kitchen and baths; pre-wiring for multiple phone and cable locations; a choice of oak vanities for the baths; and ceramic-tile tub and shower surrounds.

The kitchen includes a choice of oak cabinetry, a double-bowl stainless-steel sink and a self-cleaning electric range, and the homes have gas heat and hot water.

The Yorkshire II model, with 3,083 finished square feet, is base-priced from $309,990 to $313,990. This home has a front porch leading into a two-story foyer with an adjacent staircase and powder room.

To the left of the foyer is the formal living room, which opens into the formal dining room. Across the back of the house is a family room open to the breakfast area and the kitchen, which has a pantry and an optional center island. A laundry room links the house with the three-car garage.

Upstairs, the master suite has a walk-in closet and a private full bath with a double-sink vanity.

Buyers can add a vaulted ceiling to this room and a bath with a tub and separate shower.

This level has three more bedrooms; each with a walk-in closet or two wall closets; a full bath with a double-sink vanity; and a bonus room overlooking the foyer, which can function as a home office, play area or second family room.

The largest home, the Bedlington, with 4,152 square feet, is base-priced from $369,990 to $373,990.

This model includes a front porch, a central foyer flanked by the formal living room and formal dining room, a family room with an adjacent staircase to the upper level, a powder room, and a spacious kitchen and breakfast area with a walk-in pantry and optional center island.

A rear foyer with a closet leads to the attached three-car garage. The main level also includes a bedroom with a walk-in closet and a private full bath.

Upstairs, the master suite has two walk-in closets and a bath with a corner tub, a separate shower, a linen closet and a double-sink vanity.

A vaulted ceiling can be added to the bedroom.

The second and third bedrooms, each with a walk-in closet, share a connecting bath with a double-sink vanity and a separate compartment for the tub.

The fourth bedroom has a walk-in closet and an adjacent full bath accessed from the hall.

The upper level also includes a bonus room, which can function as a playroom, children’s study, home office or second family room.

Nearby is an expansive laundry and utility room with a linen closet.
