Mildred W. Lyons, 100, homemaker

Mildred Ward Lyons, a homemaker and Sunday school teacher, died March 22 at Brooke Grove Rehabilitation and Nursing Center. She was 100.

Born Aug. 6, 1904, in Chaneyville, Md., she was in the first graduating class of Huntingtown High School.

She married Arthur Gorman Lyons in 1930, who preceded her in death.

Mrs. Lyons was a lifetime member of Smithville United Methodist Church, which her grandparents helped establish. She sang in the choir and taught Sunday school for 47 years. She was also a member of the Owings Homemakers Club for 45 years and a member of the Ferry Landing Woods Garden Club.

She is survived by two daughters, Shirley Parker of Kilmarnock, Va., and Joyce Lyons Terhes of Silver Spring; a brother, Edwin Ward of Dunkirk, Md.; six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
