PHILADELPHIA — Georgetown long pole Brodie Merrill and Navy defenseman Mitch Hendler highlight the USILA Division I All-America team.

Midfielders Graham Gill (Navy) and Bill McGlone (Maryland) joined Merrill and Hendler on the first team announced yesterday.

The rest of the first team included attackmen Matt Danowski (Duke), Jed Prossner (North Carolina) and John Walker (Army); midfielders Kyle Harrison (Johns Hopkins) and Matt Zash (Duke); Johns Hopkins defenseman Tom Garvey; and Duke goalie Aaron Fenton.

The second team included attackmen Matt Ward (Virginia) and Joe Walters (Maryland); Virginia midfielder Kyle Dixon and Navy goalie Matt Russell. Midfielders Rob Bateman (Virginia), Billy Looney (Navy) and Steve Looney (Navy) and defensemen Mike Culver (Virginia) and Steve Whittenberg (Maryland) were third-team picks.

Area honorable mention selections included Navy attackman Jon Birsner; Georgetown midfielders Pete Cannon, Andy Corno and Nick Miaritis; Maryland midfielder Brendan Healy; defensemen Reyn Garnett (Georgetown), Steve Holmes (Virginia) and Ray Megill (Maryland); and Maryland goalie Harry Alford.
