How did you get started in real estate? I had spent 20 years managing hotels and resorts and met my future wife, who had been an agent for several years. We’ve been a team ever since.

How long with the current company? Since 1995

License and designations: Virginia associate broker; licensed real estate instructor

Associations: National Association of Realtors, Virginia Association of Realtors, Prince William Association of Realtors

Awards: PWAR Lifetime Top Producer Team Gold; Avery-Hess Top Producing Team

Greatest accomplishment in the past 12 months: I survived a heart attack and bypass surgery.

Highest-priced home sold: $1,000,000

Most memorable home: My client bought the weekend retreat of a former congressman on Goose Creek. It had no running water — a cistern collected rainwater — no plumbing for bathrooms, no septic or sewer. It has an incinerator toilet. My client loved fishing on Goose Creek, converted and updated it and made it his primary residence.

Worst experience: I bought an investment property in Colorado in 1981 for $52,000 and at a 16 percent interest rate. The market collapsed and two years later I couldn’t get $25,000 for it. Colorado is beautiful, but that was ugly.

Age: 60

Family: Wife and business partner Vickie; daughter, Toni; son, Chip; stepdaughter, Stacie; stepdaughter, Ashley; and three grandchildren.

Education: Bachelor of arts in education, Sul Ross State University (Alpine, Texas) 1970; graduate studies at American University and Universityof Colorado.

Military service: United States Air Force, 1963 to 1967

Community affiliations: Society for Preservation and Encouragement of Barbershop Quartet Singing in America (SPEBSQSA); Mended Hearts, support group for heart patients; Singing Capital Chorus

Outside interests: Boating on the Chesapeake Bay, golfing, traveling, Caribbean vacations.

Last book read: “Angels and Demons,” by Dan Brown

Last movie seen: “Meet the Fockers”

What kind of car do you drive? Lexus

What is your personal dream home? Just a small place on a large body of water with a pier to dock my boat.
