The Lennar Corp. and Brookfield Homes, builders with experience creating active adult communities in Northern Virginia, have teamed to develop Heritage Shores in Bridgeville, Del., where home buyers 55 and older can live in an active adult community in a resort setting.

Located south of Delaware Route 404 directly off U.S. Route 13, Heritage Shores is within an easy drive of the beaches, restaurants, shops and entertainment available in Rehoboth, Dewey and Bethany beaches and in Ocean City, Md.

Residents of Heritage Shores will find plenty of reasons to stay home, too, including an 18-hole Arthur Hills championship golf course, walking trails, scenic ponds and a 20,000-square-foot clubhouse with a ballroom, lounge, casual and fine dining, a billiards room, a card room, a woodworking shop and an arts and crafts room.

A full-time activities director will be on-site, and the community will also feature an athletic center with tennis courts, indoor and outdoor swimming pools, a fitness center and a pro shop.

Lennar is building three collections of homes at Heritage Shores, including the Garden Collection, priced from $358,990 to $359,990, and the Executive Collection, priced at $385,990.

These two collections have homes with three bedrooms, three full baths and a two-car garage.

The Carriage Series homes, priced from $237,990 to $249,990, have two bedrooms, two baths and a one- or two-car garage. All the features in these homes are included in the price rather than made available as options.

The Executive Series homes include three bedrooms, three full baths, a two-car garage and a low-maintenance exterior with a sodded lawn, a brick-paved front porch and a covered patio. The homes have 9-foot ceilings, hardwood flooring in the foyer, gas fireplace, crown and chair-rail moldings, a sunroom, a den or study, a center-island kitchen with Corian counters, 42-inch cabinets and double ovens, plus a three-zone hot water baseboard heating system.

The Georgetown model, part of the Executive Series, features a foyer entrance off the front porch, with a formal living room including a deep bay window. Nearby are a formal dining room, a den and a central staircase to the upper level. The center-island kitchen is open to the breakfast area, which has a bay window, and to the family room, which has a fireplace, a built-in cabinet and an entrance to the sunroom, which is wrapped in windows. The sunroom has a sliding glass door to the covered patio.

The main level also includes the master bedroom, which has a walk-in closet, a linen closet and another closet along one wall, plus a bath with a tub, separate shower and double-sink vanity.

This level also has a second bedroom with an adjacent full bath. A utility/laundry room links the two-car garage to the home.

Upstairs are a third bedroom with a walk-in closet, a third full bath and several finished and unfinished storage spaces.

The single-family homes available from Brookfield Homes were featured in the Friday Home Guide Oct. 28.
