Song —the low-fare unit of Delta Airlines — may have sung for the last time, but that isn’t stopping Delta from heating up the airfare price wars with 15 sale fares from Washington area airports. Sample round-trip fares are Austin, Texas ($276) and Fort Myers, Fla. ($164). Sale fares are valid for travel through Dec. 15. Lowest fares are available Tuesday, Wednesday and Saturday. Airtran Airways has put its entire route network on sale through Nov. 10. From sunny locales such as Los Angeles, Las Vegas and Miami to cold-weather haunts such as Boston and Denver, all 47 destinations should be a little cheaper in winter and spring.

Air France is getting into the winter fare sale with its early-bird sale, which runs through Tuesday. Sale fares are available to more than 30 European destinations from Dulles airport, including (one way): Budapest ($194) and Paris ($210). Sale fares include the $110 mandatory fuel surcharge.
