Last night at Madison Square Garden in New York

SEEN AND HEARD

Caron Butler missed the game and won’t be in uniform tonight when the Wizards play Orlando in their home opener because of a left thigh bruise suffered in the season opener at Toronto. Awvee Storey was activated to replace Butler.

Butler didn’t practice Thursday in Toronto but all indications were that the 6-foot-7 forward would be available against the Knicks. However, a visit to a New York-area doctor early yesterday determined that the injury was a little more serious than originally believed.

The Wizards are optimistic Butler will be available Wednesday for a home game against the Los Angeles Clippers.

KEY TO THE GAME

The Wizards went on an 11-2 run in the fourth quarter to break open the game.

KEY PLAYER

Michael Ruffin came off the bench and kept balls alive. He also finished with five points and nine rebounds.
