Seen and heard yesterday at MCI Center:

BY THE NUMBERS

4 Games in which Alex Ovechkin has scored a point this season. The Caps rookie waited until nearly midway through the third period to keep his streak alive. He has points in all four of his NHL games and also had the game-winner against the Rangers with his third goal of the season.

QUOTABLE

“As soon as I hit it it was kind of instant happiness. I guess it’s one of my greatest hockey moments.”

— Defenseman Steve Eminger on scoring his first NHL goal.

SEEN & HEARD

One of the biggest ovations of the afternoon went to a group of wounded veterans from Walter Reed Army Medical Center and Bethesda Naval Hospital who were attending the game. The Capitals teamed with the D.C. Firefighters Burn Foundation and the District Chop House restaurant to donate 30 tickets for wounded soldiers and meals after the game.
